Lindsay Barnes serves as the Director of Choirs at Burnett Junior High School. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Mrs. Barnes brings a tangible passion and dynamic presence to the classroom.

With fifteen years of experience in choral directing, she has grown the choral program at Burnett to include over 250 singers in seven performing ensembles.  Choirs under Mrs. Barnes' direction receive consecutive sweepstakes ratings at UIL, superior ratings at numerous contests and festivals, and students are frequently named to chairs in TMEA All-Region Choirs.

With musical excellence as the primary focus, Mrs. Barnes’ choirs are also a haven of community for her students. She says, “Building relationships with my students is at the forefront of my teaching doctrine, and capturing their hearts is a sure way to create the pathway for learning and growth.”

Mrs. Barnes is an active member of the Texas Choral Directors Association and the Texas Music Educators Association. Originally from Wausau, Wisconsin, Mrs. Barnes has discovered that Texas is where she was meant to be. Mrs. Barnes and her husband lead an exciting life keeping up with their three young sons. When she does have a rare spare moment, you’ll find her exercising her creativity further by redecorating a room in her home, cooking, or hunting for the next great deal.
