Brent Barnes is the Director of Choirs at the newly established Parker Junior High. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Evangel University and a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. Mr. Barnes emphasizes a student-centered approach, combining strong relationships, a passion for literacy, and a commitment to excellence in musical performance to build a successful program. 

 

During his tenure in Wylie ISD, his work in quadrupling the choral program at Harrison Intermediate School has created a strong foundation for the success of the Burnett Junior High and Wylie East High School Choral Programs. Students have achieved selection for All-Region and All-State choirs, earned consistent UIL sweepstakes ratings and superior ratings at numerous contests, and participated in regional and national conventions as part of the Raider Choir Program. While incredibly proud of these musical achievements, Mr. Barnes is primarily passionate about creating positive relationships that empower students to build self-confidence, support others, and serve in their community. Inspiring and investing in the future is what it’s all about! 

 

Mr. Barnes is an active member of the Texas Choral Directors Association and the Texas Music Educators Association. He also teaches private piano lessons and serves at Northplace Church. He is honored to team with his wife, Lindsay Barnes, Director of Burnett Junior High Choirs, in the Wylie East Raider Choir Cluster. Together, they are proudly raising three talented and active boys who attend school in Wylie ISD.
