Mrs. Kasey Mahan, Private Vocal Instructor, Burnett JH & Harrison IS

Kasey Mahan has taught private voice and piano lessons for 13 years. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree at Angelo State University in San Angelo. With her classical training in vocal performance, Kasey is qualified to identify the most age-appropriate and effective techniques, including the development of correct vocal support; breath control; tone color and quality; along with sight reading. Furthermore, Kasey chooses repertoire suited to each vocal type and capability.

As a result, her past students from a neighboring school district have consistently earned superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble as well as placement in the renowned All-Region Choir. She thoroughly enjoys teaching middle school students and often conveys her desires for her students to understand the mechanics of the voice, build their confidence with singing, and discover their unique tone and color that is all their own.

Kasey is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Under MTNA, she is a member of the local association, Garland Music Teachers Association, for which she is Co-Chairman of the Jazz/Pop Festival.

Kasey has had the pleasure of performing with The Contemporary Chorale, a Richardson-based non-profit community choir for 11 seasons. Not only did Kasey occasionally lead sectionals, but she also substituted as the director. Additionally, she served as a worship leader at her church from 2014-2017. She has also performed as a soloist in the production of West Side Story, and was assigned the role of understudy for the main character, Maria.

Kasey, her husband Cody, and son Finn, recently moved to Sachse where they could spread out a bit more on an acre of land with their chickens, cat, fish, and bunny rabbit.
