Ms. Rose Shue, Associate Director, Burnett JH

Rose Shue is thrilled to serve Wylie ISD as the Associate Choir Director at Burnett Junior High.  Prior to joining Wylie, Ms. Shue has spent the past two years teaching music at Lindsay Elementary School (Lindsay, TX), where she has built a successful and joyful K-6th grade music program from scratch. She brings to the classroom a passion for making music meaningful for young people while working toward rigorous musical standards, invigorating and energizing students by sharing with them the magic of creating great music together. She says, “I care deeply about making students feel heard, valued, and respected. I want them to know that I am genuinely interested in who they are as growing, changing learners; that I believe in and insist on their ability to contribute to their community and our world.”

Ms. Shue holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Furman University (Greenville, SC). While at Furman, she served as the Director of Furman University’s student-led choral ensemble, The Twelve Peers, and Student Conductor of Furman Singers, the university's competitive touring ensemble. She was also President of Furman’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education and President of the Theta Lambda chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. As a teaching intern at Fisher Middle School, she prepared and conducted six excellent middle school choirs as they earned top ratings in adjudicated festivals and performed at Carnegie Hall. When she’s not singing or teaching, Ms. Shue can be found hanging out with her camera or a good book.
