Mrs. Mandie McMurdie, Private Vocal Instructor, Burnett JH
Mandie McMurdie received her Bachelor of Music in Choral Education from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she sang under the direction of Jing-Ling Tam and studied voice with Rebecca Winston. Following graduation she taught for four years as an elementary music teacher in Plano ISD, after which she took a break from teaching in public school to raise her three children. During that time, she taught a summer music program for six years, and taught private voice lessons at Wylie HS and in her home.
Mandie has sung in choirs throughout her professional career and is currently a soprano and featured soloist for Dallas Millennial Choirs and Orchestras. She is also privileged to work as the MCO Youth Choirs Conductor’s Assistant, working directly with Professor Joni Jensen and Founding Dean and Musical Director Professor Brett Stewart. Mrs. McMurdie is active in her church’s music program, having directed youth and adult choirs for many years, and she currently directs a multi-congregational choir and orchestra.
In addition to teaching private voice lessons at Burnett Jr. High, Mandie enjoys watercolor painting and teaches art classes and has a strong social media presence on Instagram and YouTube. She loves hanging out with her kids and husband, spending time with her large extended family, and doing anything and everything music related.
